C. Marie Eckert, a member of the litigation department, is an experienced business litigator with particular expertise in financial institutions litigation and creditors’-rights matters. She worked at Perkins Coie from 1988 to 1994, and then at U.S. Bancorp until early 2002, as litigation manager and senior corporate counsel in charge of litigation for the western region.
Ms. Eckert is a member of the Oregon State Bar’s House of Delegates and Litigation Institute and Retreat planning committee. She is also a member of the Federal, American, and Multnomah County Bar Associations. Additionally, she is a former board member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and a past chair of the Oregon State Bar’s Business Litigation section. Her speaking engagements include presenting “Watching for Sharks While Surfing: Navigating Difficult Attorney-Client Privilege and Waiver Issues,” at the 12th Annual Litigation Institute and Retreat in 2005; moderating an OSB Business Litigation section panel discussion, “What’s Important to In-House Counsel,” and an OADC panel discussion, “Working With In-House Counsel to Effectively Defend Litigation;” presenting on “Discovery of Electronic Evidence” at the Oregon Women Lawyers’ Technology Conference in 1998; and participating as a panelist on “Electronic Discovery of Computer-Based Evidence” at the OADC Annual Convention in 1997.
